More than 5 meters long, 2 meters high
and 3 tones of steel with triradial star at the false radiator looked at me with
its xenon headlights. It's a giant. More than that, it can drive, and drive
fast. Besides, it can protect against evil bullets. This protection is tested
specially by the Russian Army, which according to the agreement with RIDA
Company tests every armored car.
The testing was supposed to be carried
out at the automobile range. First I will drive a car, not as powerful as this
one - GL 450...
The dynamics are striking. The car rushes forward and starts
jumping at the hillocks, which were unnoticeable while driving at a low speed.
Change the car for the armored version of this SUV. The difference can be
noticed from the very beginning. First, you will not close the door holding the
handle slightly by the tips of your fingers. The mass of the door with the
bulletproof glass is much heavier than the mass of a usual one. But the
difference in weight is not so noticeable thanks to the more powerful engine - the
GL 500. The maximum speed at the test range is 100 km per hour - the car is not
as dynamic as the previous one. But stability is much better.
The bulletproof glass transparencyis, of
course, worse than usual triplex, but much better than it used to be when RIDA
Company obtained glass from outside suppliers. Nowadays, having its own glass
production, the quality has risen to new higher levels. All the distortions
have disappeared completely.
The perfect sound insulation in this car
is even better than it used to be.
It is also difficult to feel the real speed. It seems that
you drive 70 km per hour, but at the speedometer its 100 km. The difference
seems to be not so big, but the matter is that the speedometer shows miles, so
really, it's driving 160 km!
